La Montagnette is a génépi liquor bottle that is reminiscent of the French Alp’s countryside. Wooden cabin houses, called montagnettes, occupy the highest levels of the mountain sides and to keep warm, génépi liquor was a favorite choice among locals. Inspired by the stylization of old french labels, the overall design of the bottle is meant to be reminiscent of alpien tradition with modern features to give it a unique layout.
The illustration on the front label is based on my uncle’s montagnette where I would spend my summers hiking and my winters skiing. The back label portrays an old water vase with the flowers used to create génépi, artemisia spicata. These flowers are once again illustrated on a smaller label that rests over the cork of the bottle.
